Earlier Projects and Collaborations
The following projects were a part of Dr. A. Ross Scaife's research portfolio (as either project director or collaborator) during his time at the University of Kentucky and his Directorship of the RCH:
- EDUCE: Enhanced Digital Unwrapping for Conservation and Exploration: Creating readable images of texts (damaged books, rolled papyrus), without opening them, using minimally invasive scanning, virtual unwrapping, and visualization. Directed by W. Brent Seales.
- Venetus A Project, part of the Homer Multitext Project (in collaboration with Harvard's Center for Hellenic Studies): A complete image-based edition of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana (Venice) Venetus A, a tenth-century Byzantine manuscript containing the earliest copy of Homer's Iliad, plus several layers of annotations. Edited by Casey Dué and Mary Ebbott.
- Pleiades: An Online Workspace for Ancient Geography (in collaboration with the Ancient World Mapping Center, University of Noth Carolina, Chapel Hill): An international collaboration for the updating and expansion of the spatial and historical reference information assembled by the Classical Atlas Project. RCH and The Stoa Consortium provided public hosting of the Pleiades Workspace.
- Suda On Line: Distributed, collaborative editing of a 10th century Byzantine encyclopedia (known as the Suda) compiling material on ancient literature, history, and biography. Directed by Ross Scaife.
- Diotima: On-line materials for the study of women and gender in the ancient world. Directed by Ross Scaife.
